Carpetright is proud to be a leading floor coverings and beds provider. Since our foundation in 1988 we have grown, both organically and through acquisition, into an international retailer, operating in four European territories; the UK, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland and Belgium. Carpetright trade from over 300 stores and concessions in the UK as well as 120 stores across Holland, Belgium and the Republic of Ireland.

Our commitment to our customers and our colleagues is central to everything we do. We employ over 2,000 people across our organisation, who work hard to deliver excellent customer service and to make it easier for customers to transform their homes. Our ranges of carpets, laminate flooring, vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl tiles and wood flooring are constantly expanding in line with customers’ needs. We are also becoming increasingly popular as a stockist of beds, mattresses and headboards with a variety of designs available to suit all budgets and styles.

We also offer artificial grass to help our customers transform their outside spaces too. Many people struggle with the upkeep of their lawns and this innovative product aims to revolutionise gardening, making it easier.

1988 - Carpetright was founded, with the first store opening in Canning Town, London.

1990 - Carpetright set up a Head Office and warehouse in Rainham, Essex. By the end of the year Carpetright was trading from 71 Stores.

1993 - Carpetright floated on the London Stock Exchange

2003 - Carpetright launch laminate flooring in stores offering a great value alternative to carpet and vinyl.

2006 - By the end of 2006, Carpetright was trading from 246 Stores.

2007 - Carpetright relocated our Central Support Office and Warehousing into brand new premises in Purfleet, Essex. With an area of over 500,000 sq feet, it enabled complete consolidation of all the carpet cutting and distribution facilities into one location and provided state of the art office space. This created significant savings that could be passed on to you, the customer.

2008 - Carpetright Group acquired bed retailer Sleepright allowing Carpetright to expand their product range and offer the same great value and quality for beds and mattresses.

2009 - Carpetright online was launched. The fully transactional website included a free home consultation request service and free sample service, enabling customers to complete the entire transaction online.

2012 - Carpetright begins a comprehensive store refurbishment programme to update and modernise the Carpetright estate.

2016 - Carpetright undertakes a wide ranging re-branding programme to update the look and feel of the brand.

2018 - Carpetright undertook a CVA (company voluntary arrangement) closing a number of unprofitable stores.

2020 - Carpetright was acquired by Meditor Holdings (MHL) and delisted from the London Stock Exchange.
